Halifax Life Start Franchise Set to Open February 27 2023

Seasoned Halifax Entrepreneurs Become First Franchisee of Life Start

First Aid & Safety Training – To Open Training Centre in Halifax

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HALIFAX, NS, February 21, 2023 – Halifax business owners Colin and Joanne MacDougall are the first franchisee for Saint John, New Brunswick based Life Start First Aid & Safety Training.  They open their Halifax training centre at 102 Chain Lake Drive, Halifax, on Monday, February 27, 2023.  Disrupting the staid field of first aid and safety training, the MacDougall’s join Khryspn Jensen, CEO of Life Start Training Inc. (LSTI), on her mission to save more lives by improving national standards for life-saving training. With a proven, successful business model that started in 2016 in Saint John, NB, and a second training centre that launched in Moncton last year, franchising LSTI is the next step toward realizing this goal.

This Maritime business success story quickly went from an idea to reality.  Jensen shares, “We made the decision to pivot and franchise to allow us better consistency with training…less than one year from our decision we will have our Halifax location open.”  When asked about what it means to be welcoming her first franchisee in Halifax she enthusiastically responds, “It’s an incredible feeling to know that we have found the same passionate and like-minded people, in Colin and Joanne, who want to help and give back to our communities.”

Seeking a new business opportunity, the MacDougall’s found what they were looking for at the Halifax Franchise Expo last November.  “Our restaurant [Sweet Hereafter] is doing well, but the pandemic revealed how unstable the food industry can be. After meeting Khryspn Jensen, the founder of LSTI, we were certain this franchise was built on passion and a commitment to excellence.”  They immediately started the process to become the company’s first franchisee and will open their training centre just three months from their initial inquiry.  They will continue to own and operate their restaurant.

Franchisees of LSTI are given all the tools, training and support needed to achieve success.  Jensen states that she “wants to set up every franchisee for success.  We developed a full master training and marketing portal, functional LMS, front end website and full social media set up along with ad campaigns for awareness.”  The MacDougall’s have benefited from all of the systems that Jensen put in place.  “We have enjoyed connecting with the corporate Life Start team as we learn an entirely new industry. It has been a relief to have such a great level of support.”

The MacDougall’s assert “that this business model is set up to reward those who believe in dedication and effort. We expect this investment to become a new passion as we learn more about the important work of first aid training. And, as we continue to learn and grow our franchise, we will build financial security for our future. Who doesn’t want that?”

The location of the first Halifax training centre in the Bayers Lake Business Park was an intentional choice by the MacDougall’s.  “As we searched for a home for our new business, we focused on finding a central location on a bus route and one with lots of free parking. Often these programs are required before a new job can begin. We think an abundance of options for participants will make things easier,” the MacDougall’s say.

LSTI is laser focused on selecting and training quality instructors to provide first aid and safety training that offers relevant scenarios, practical information and hands-on skills in a safe, inclusive and fun environment.  They believe that training to save lives shouldn’t bore you to death.  LSTI wants the training to stick when it counts.  This training quickly becomes relevant when providing care for a loved one at home, while waiting for first responders to arrive, or treating a co-worker in a life-threatening emergency.

Given the requirement for certified first aid and safety training in myriad workplaces, the LSTI business builds quickly.  Trainees benefit from quick access to required courses, can set up a flexible training schedule and are able to utilize hybrid on-line and in-person training.  Employers benefit from LSTIs efficient on-line system to track completion, compliance and certifications – quickly accessing information and updating employee records.  There’s no wait for certificates to be printed.  It is done on-site, same-day.  All courses are CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certified.

LSTI currently has regulatory approval to teach and train in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Following a successful debut at the Halifax Franchise Expo in November 2022 and Winnipeg Franchise Expo in February 2023, they will showcase at expos in Saskatoon, Edmonton and Calgary later this year.  There are currently local franchises available in Bedford/Sackville, Dartmouth and Sydney, NS; Charlottetown, PEI; and Fredericton, NB. With a streamlined process for the operator, existing and stable client demand, low cost of entry, limited human resource requirements and unlimited business potential, this locally born franchise opportunity is a match for both new and seasoned entrepreneurs.
